By reading this thread it will help you to make a better Game and and you will also Know what is which.


Which is Which

Sprites
Sprites are object that you would move around in the game a The Penguin in Club Penguin is a sprite in a way

Sounds
The sounds are the Music you would want in the Game, But Music like Example: Holiday by Greenday that will lag the Game so try getting some sounds instead

Backgrounds
Backgrounds are the pictures you want for your rooms, you will need to create a background before you make a room.

Rooms
Rooms are the Place your sprite will walk about in Like a swimming pool for example

Objects
The Objects are Very important in GameMaker you need your sprite to be a Object so you could pick the Controls for the Sprite so it can move about. And also They can be used as something floating around like a Football

Paths
Paths are a route to make the object move theres an object action with these aswell.

Scripts
Scripts are Codes really to help you with your game Look up Sprites on Google for more.

Fonts
Fonts are the text you use in your game you will need to use fonts for Like Speech Bubbles and other stuff.

How to make a Good game

You should start your game off on a Day where your not busy

you should have 1 hour resting time

Dont watch Television while Making a game it might distract you then you might go wrong

Have the light on so you can see your keyboard

Have lots of different clothes not just one

Have some activities for the User to do like Jobs or Mini games

Write what you are going to do next on some Paper so you dont forget what you want add to the game

tell people what to do Like how to move round in a instruction Guide

Sorry i can't belive you call this a guide.Not to flame but all you did is tell what the stuff is not how to work it.Also for an a object you don't have to have a sprite for it.You also don't need a background for a room ether.

Well i didnt do all of it but i did the first basic things you need to know and yes if you dont have a background your room will be grey and i do but the way i do it is a easier way of doing it Plus im updating it tonight i know i didnt add them all in there the first things you need to know before you start to go on to paths and fonts,do people know what font is anyway?

No, I'm talking about you just being a dictionary. And giving a list off what every game needs with no detail at all. Telling people what something is and not telling them how to use is as helpful as throwing rocks at them. He didn't copy you, he saw this thread and tried to make a thread to help people and not just to be popular for making a guide.

i dont want to start a flame war but Sebastian hasnt give any info on what the sprites and that are and Madfly stop thinking your really good because you made a game your RPG penguins is not the best game on these forums there are lots more better ones

2 is a lot now, eh? I don't think I'm really good. And if you don't know what sprites you are in the wrong buisiness. Sebastion doesn't need to tell people becuase they should before going into a game. Do you make games? How many? Where any of them good? Or were they all trash like you guide?

Edit: OH... you made that game Penguin Artic, the one with horrid graphics and super-basic programming, the penguin facing forward, going of clothes racks, no boundaries... I remember that.

You're joking, right? Your graphics were made in five minutes, and they game it's self is pathetic. Who the hell cares if penguins are on the street? Do penguin's wear clothes? No. Do they live in igloos? No. Are there member penguins and non-member penguins? No. So penguins on streets makes as much sense as penguins flying jetpacks. So shut-up.

Well, it's a nice little "guide" that shouldn't be put down. But, as most forumers should do is go to GameMaker.nl and view the tutorials. If the tutorials don't download, then I think this thread will help you quite alot.

I didnt take any of your info i wrote it myself. all by myself. i didnt edit it or anything. my guide is more detailed than yours. Oou guides are the same. and all that is is a dictionary.

Where do you get game maker and is it only for pc??:?:
