Honestly, it didn't take me more then 10 minutes. It was pretty easy. After I made 2 pictures I used adgif and made it animated.

Wow that is really big. Maybe you should hire some more people to help with that. Rigsandbill, Nrop, and Oagolthop make some. I have seen the work they have done. Rigsandbill with his avvis, Nrop with his poster (seen it on the old forums), and Oagolthop with his paint jobs (old forums).

You can use a variety of programs for these.
But the best ones are probably Powerpoint, paint, paint.net, and GIMP

I make all the trading cards with OmniGraffle, not GIMP. I was tempted to use GIMP, but OmniGraffles gives me a cleaner look with the text and gradients, plus the layout aspect is really easy. OmniGraffle is not made for Windows, nor will it ever be! In your face, Bill Gates!

I do the lighting/complex backgrounds with GIMP. Just a gradient background and the rest of the card are done with OmniGraffle.

EDIT: Make a request once you already HAVE a player card pic. It saves posts, and makes it easier to produce cards.

I can see Blingstr's point.

If you want to continue with this, I think you should post each collection, but make a thread where people can post their player cards. From there, you have a designer who creates similar cards for the next collection. Then, you have unique cards, but in the same style. It makes the whole "collection" idea more useful, and it adds more fun. I mean, you could make this a big idea. Create a whole team of people to work on this and make it a big deal. ;)

IAAF, I like your idea, but that would make it impossible to produce these, since some people can't use certain programs because of their system/OS they use, and some people are better graphics designers than others. I think it's fun this way because each designer gets to do what's fun for them and what they're comforable with doing. The fun in collecting is also in trying to get a card of each designer's style, which makes a whole new aspect of collecting designs.
