I think that it's a bit extreme. While parents, the NHI executives, and others are worried about the game teaching users to hack and cheat, I think that no matter what game you play, people are going to cheat on it with some kind of software. It's completely unpreventable. There are always going to be hackers and cheaters on any online game you play.

Ridiculous things said in the article:

If anyone is caught trying to instruct other players or is teaching them how to cheat on Club Penguin, even on another Web site, blog or forum, we are instituting a permanent ban of the player who is doing the teaching

Banished members would have to ask their parents to create a new account and explain why they were kicked off the site.

A spokesman from Club Penguin called the 4 million figure "conservative."

That article is a bit low on the 411. What did you expect, anyways, they're just 29 year olds trying to get a good story for the paper. There are cheaters everywhere, and people should be well aware of that.

wow............................................... ......................

that was interesting....................................... .........

Why would you two post if it is just a piece of spam?

That article was very intresting. Cheating in CP...How odd. Why would you just want to cheat in an online game that doesn't really mean anything important?

But Little Milky is right. Cheating is everywhere, and we can't stop it.

I agree that the article was off(not to mention that they were off by $1 on the membership). Also I don't see how banning people who talk about hacking/cheating is completely just or a wise decision (of course, that information could have been easily miscommunicated). But like you said, it's a bunch of young adults trying to get a good article for the newspaper.

It's difficult to block hackers from hacking. With hackers, they always seem to find a new way to get around blocks. So far, NHI has fixed a few things and updated certain software to help avoid hacking (such as the no right clicking update).

I thought it was interesting, people don't think twice about hacking.

Club Penguin was in Newsweek the other day (In the back, tipsheet) imagine my surprise when I opened up the magizene and saw an article about it.

That was an interesting read. I suggest they should start to ban the cheaters and stuff. But why make a story about it? They are just pushing the cheaters to do it all over again.

No, I'm well aware that they were not referring to Club Penguin. They were referring to "Whyville". Moreover, I stated, "Ridiculous things said in the article:". So, that wouldn't necessarily even imply that I was talking about the game itself. But still, I thought that idea was dumb. They were talking about what other online game developers were doing to solve this issue and how Club Penguin could do the same.

Anyhow, regardless of how bad or good the media is trying to make Club Penguin look, Club Penguin is getting publicity. For the most part, Club Penguin has been getting good reviews anyway.

I've been noticing a lot more hacks going on now, and I must say that I'm rather unimpressed with the cheaters.

Oh Wow.

Honestly people get too carried away in a simple online game.

I mean 8 year olds hacking?Thats advanced.

Other than that,Most hackers are on Mammoth Usa.If you go Blizzard Usa in the daytime,The server is packed with young kids that have simple igloos.Go into mammoth and you have over 100 times better the igloos. At first i was always skipping around servers seeing witch server i fit in best with the most.I didnt pick mammoth because i fit it,i picked it becuase of curiousity of these "Super" Penguins life.In a while,i was disguested at the behavior but still curious of what really happens.

In no time,Hackers begain to sprang up everywhere.People that i have never expected to be one,was revealed.I was about to try to hack, but as to be sure i went to go researching.
Turns out hacking is illegal and you can get in trouble for it as stealing.Thats the way i am.I always make sure.I double check my work and i check copyright laws in making stuff.Thank fully i didn't even try to download a hacking program as it might as well could contain Trojan and i don't want trojan.

Trojan scares the heck out of me.

Other than that,i can't really imaganine someone as young as 8 years old hacking.

The News always contain sparks of curiousity.

This is rediculous. This article in the "Chicago Tribune" was a waste of tree. I know, cheaters never prosper, but cheating to get Gold Coins in a Penguin game isn't a criminal offense. This is lude and obsurd.

Johnny Cash
10 March 2007, 02:23 AM
Well, the ban part of it is pretty lame. I mean there's always been that rule. And the Tribune is just trying to gte a good story in so people will ACTUALLY read it.

I know, hacking is a big problem on Club Penguin.

That's a really good article. It should really teach hackers a lesson. Nice find!

I think this is a bit of an over exaggeration... I don't know a person who doesn't cheat at one point or another.

Maybe that is why we have a bunch of people who work for Club Penguin here. But you know what, i think let them cheat. Why you ask?? Well if i cheated to bcome popular i would feel bad and like feel terrible on the inside. so i just would do it the real way. And be a real penguin. But very ineresting nice find:!:

Well there is a lot of hacking but I wouldn't call it a problem. It's not killing anyone.

But I did get hacked so I don't know why I just said that.

Michelle

I think once cheating stops, CP will be better. No one will be asking how people did hacks, and no one will get mad at others for bans. Also everyone will earn their clothes and furniture fair and square.
