I've just made this thread as a reminder on how to not spam. Here we go:
1. Make shure your posts and threads contribute.
Don't post threads like "OMG HACKER LOOKIE" because, no matter what sub-forum here that it is in, it will not contribute, NO MATTER WHAT. No threads like hacker, ninja, spammer, etc. If they don't contribute to the forum, why post them? This goes for single posts too.
2. Don't overuse smilies.
Shure, they maybe cute, but they can also be annoying, and very noobish. So if you post something, put just one of them, not zillions of them.
3. Be on topic in your posts and threads.
In something like a edit thread, don't just post something like "hey meet in brible at 3:00pm" etc. Be on-topic with your posts. Same for threads. The threads should be in the ritght sub-forum.
4. Post more than just a few words.
The forums have letter rules for a good reason, to preevent stuff like "omg", "this is spam" etc. Also, be good when it comes to desriptshuns, desribe something, don't just do "spam spam this is spam", etc. Say why something is what it is, and better than ever don't even post in spam threads.
5. Use good spelling and grammar.
Or at least do the best you can. Don't use Chat-Speek (like omg lol spamr hacxor report noooob) and punchulate, capitulize spell and use grammar corectly!
6. Don't double, triple qaud etc. post and also don't bump threads.
Don't post more than one message in a row. We have a edit button you can use, you know.
And don't post in a thread that hasn't been posted in a loooong time. There are some (read: rare) times when you need to do this, but don't abuse it.
7. Don't cuss.
Duh. We have filters, you know.

And that is how to NOT spam.
That's also not how to be a noob.

its a good guide, but your grammar needs a bit of work;)

THIS WON'T DO ANYTHING.

No one reads the rules or the stickies, this won't help. Even though 10 people will say "ohhh good guide, this should help" without reading the first line.

I hate when people do that like 1 second after they post it.

There should be a time limit when you open up the thread you have to wait 10 - 30 seconds before posting a reply.

I read the whole thing and I think it is a wonderful guide. Good job and keep up the good work. It's good because sometimes spammers post these kinds of things and they just post them to try to be a mod. But you however are not one of those hypocrites.

No point to this.

We already have something like this.
It is called "The Forum Rules". http://penguinforum.miniclip.com/showthread.php?t=1

The thing is, this thread details what spam is how not to do it. It's not just saying "Don't spam". It's more like a add-on to the rules.

Thank you for the praise!
P.S. I don't care about being a mod. There's tons of good forumers and just about all of them are not mods.
P.P.S. Heck, i'm not even aiming for a sticky!

This guide will not be read for 2 reasons.

1: There already are alot of guides like this
2: Everyone is too lazy to read these kinds of things.

If you would acculy read my guide, you would know this is better than most.
Why are you not telling this to everybody else that makes guides to make the forum better?

This causes more spam. Spamming about how not to spam. Just read the rules about how not to spam...

Think about the people who don't know what spam is. With this thread, alot of users (read: newbs) will know what spam is. And how to NOT do it.
Again, everybody, thanks for the praise!

Really? Then how about I trademark this?

Guides need more depth than interpretation of the rules. The rules are VERY straightforward, and they are made well enough that people should understand them, are mature enough, and read them carefully.

Newtown, thanks for making this, but it's only the first 2 weeks of the new forum being launched. We have plenty of stickies and such that are pretty similar to this. I don't think we'll be needing a reminder yet. ;)

Well, double posting doesn't help, now does it?

Good point. I put the link to this in my sig, just incase things get bad here. P.S. Waddler, you just broke a rule of how to not spam. Spamming in a non-spam thread, oh, the ironiy!
