Use a Quick Ball. Just weaken it (it doesn't matter how much; he can still be green) and chuck a quick ball. Eventually, it should catch.

If Mesprit is one of those that flee all the time... yes.
It happened all the time when I was trynig to catch Laias.

speaking of mesprit i stopped chasing it to battle the elite four and when i finshed i went to the tracker map and now its gone :( is it now impossible to get it?

Like Bellito said use the quick ball, and use a fast golbat around level 55 with mean look to make sure it can't flee.

Do NOT use dusk balls even if its nighttime. Dusk balls are horrible on psychic types. Use a wobbefett to prevent it from fleeing. After a few turns, use a timer ball. It should work quite nicely.

Its like Raikou suicune entei latios and latias, it runs away to not be caught.

Heres how I did to catch latias on sapphire.
Lunatone with quick claw.
latias is a sleepyhead.
Weaken it till red.
Ultra ball.

You shouldnt of used the master ball on dialga/palkia. Use an ultra ball on them when theyre really weak! Im saving the master ball for Mesprit.

EDIT: Btw, my sister got Mesprit as a name in cp. Same with Electivire and Buizel XD!! She also got Gregguru, Croagunks Japanese name. She has another 2, but i forget who they are. Oh yeah! Hayashigame - Grotles Japanese name. I cant remember last one though.

Just chase it at night and use dusk balls. They work perfectly fine on pyschic types. If it has low HP because you weakened it, use a quick ball right away. (meaning when you encounter it and it's the first turn)
