Something weird about the cove...

so you walk into the forest and then you walk down a stairs to the cove indicating that the cove should be further down on the map than the forest. But on the map the cove it above the forest? See for your self

Its not above the forest on the map. Its to the left.
That's why the stairs go to the left from the forest.
Just like Georgia is to the left of Florida. Georgia is not above Florida. Same idea with the CP map.

Yeah i get what your saying. On the map, it looks really far away but in the forest, you just walk down the stairs.
