What was the worst book you ever read?

For me, I'd have to say I didn't really like The Giver. I just finished it a while ago, and I didn't like it. I know a lot of people like it, but to me is was boring and... well... it wasn't my type.

What's yours?

First book of "The Series of Unfortunate Events". I read the first 20 pages and I couldn't read anymore. They were at the beach, and some guy comes up and tells them their parents perished in a fire. No tears, or anything. Then, he left.

No action at all.

My worst book is like a little kids book thats 200 or so pages long, and its called "dial-a-ghost" it was totally cheesy, and really corny. An excerpt (just a scene, not the actual writing):

*OK, so this guy is going to kill this boy to get his parents inheritance, as usual. But then, a ghost comes out and says, "you won't hurt my friend! I love him!" and scares him away.*

A ghost would DEFINITELY not say ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^that. That is really corny.

PS I also didn't like the moon molly series. it was boring, and moon had NO sense of style and the characters were so stereotypical.

 A series of unfortunate events deffiniatly:mad: Who the heck would get his nickname from buying a snicker bar!

Daniel Handler would. Lemony Snicket is a pen name (obviously). Handler, AKA Snicket's "representative," has written a few adult books but wasn't having any great success. So about eight years ago he answered the phone - a telemarketer - and without thinking, he gave his name as Lemony Snicket.
Thus the series was born. ;)
I hate, hate, HATE Lord of the Flies. I just finished reading it. I mean, yeah, its inner meaning demonstrates modern society (and so on and so forth), but it's..UGH.

Are you kidding me? That's my favorite series. The only reason they're so long is because she adds a lot of detail and action, so it never gets boring. Trust me, the first book is boring, but once you get past the introducing scenes and everything, it's better than before.

First of all, the Giver ROX. but i guess you do have to be the right kind of person to enjoy it. you have to be kinda interested (or at least not bored by) philosophy.

But the worst book i've ever read would probably be...... the Ragwitch. idk why, but i just didnt like it.

Mine are either "A Wrinkle In Time", which I read last year as a class novel asignment because it made absolutely no sense, and who in the right minded world would name a dog "Fortanbras"? My other's are the Harry Potter series. I was never into them, and I could sware that I was the only kid in my school who didn't like them. I couldn't even read the first 10 pages without having to stop to figure out what was going on.:P

That's gotta be one of the most boring books I ever read. The good thing it was short, so it was over quickly. The bad thing though was that since i read it for school. I had to write a final chapter to the book, and I swear I almost commited suicide.

Ditto. Books are the dumbest thing ever. Btw the halo xbox won't be out long. You'll be lucky to get it when it's gone. You can only get it at gamestop when the halo one is gone. Whoever came up with books(other than instruction books, and comic books) is an idiot. I hope I never meet him.

There are a lot of awful books that I have had to read for school (a LOT). Out of all of them I would say that Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" takes the cake by far. The book is without a doubt THE MOST boring book in existance. I am not lying to you when I said using this book for any other purpose imaginable (doorstop, toilet paper, frying pan) will grant you more satisfaction and entertainment than actually reading it. I can't even tell you what happened in the book, I didn't even read it. I tried, but I physically could not read that book. Stay away from it at all costs, and if you find that you need to read it for a class (like I did), I feel your pain.

I hate the book... well.. i have no worst book.. but i'll have to choose junk magazens even know i like 'em lol but their still my worst. ;) their not exactly a proper book though.. :P

PS: Teehee, some people just don't like harry potter because its popular, but i think thats just silly, its got lots of creativity into it, and even if it is boring, J/K likes her book and she put alot of work into it. good imagination i think. :) i couldn't make anything like that myself lol.

The worst book I ever read was called The Weirdo. UGH IT WAS THE WORST!

The names we eww (Chip Clewt, Samantha Sanders (or something)) the plot was incredibly BORING, the book never really got me to care about the characters, and finally once I went on a school trip to a place like in the book, it turned me off even more. I will never forgive my 7th grade english teacher for making me read that crap.

My worst book ever read was The Outsiders.
That is #2 on my list.

THe worst book(s) is Harry Potter. Or should I say Hairy Pooter!!!!
I don't know what made those bad books so popular.

I HATED THE SECRET GARDEN!!!! i had to read it for school in like 5th grade.. i tried to read it... but i was SO bored...it was required reading and one of my friends hated it so much, she only read the title page... hated that book.
I sort of liked that book, but when I re-read it, it sucked.

JaCK.

I always stop reading a book if I dislike the beginning. It's a very small chance that it would ever get better.

Things Fall Apart

Weirdest book ever, and we still have to write a huge essay on why it represents a proverbial fable, I don't even get what a proverbial fable is.

Well, I would have to say - The Magicians Nephew by CS Lewis.
I loved the others, but this book just seems impossible for me to finish, it is even more boring than MacBeth!

Harry potter books. First off it's like 400 pages long each book, and I've read atleast 20-30 pages of it, and it was so boring. I don't know how it came so popular.

First book of "The Series of Unfortunate Events". I read the first 20 pages and I couldn't read anymore. They were at the beach, and some guy comes up and tells them their parents perished in a fire. No tears, or anything. Then, he left.

No action at all.

"White Fang" by Jack London. I really liked the Call of the wild but White Fang was so boring with nothing intresting ever happening.

Yeah, A series of unfortunate events is so depressing. I found White Fang Pretty boring at first to. It completey changes subject after 3 chapter. It gets better though.

I didn't really like, "This Side of Paradise." The concept was okay, but it was all sooooooooo predictable. Seriously. I mean, evil clones and stuff. There was even that whole, "NOOOOO!" scene where the guy saves the other guy by jumping in front of the way of the bullet, or in this case, electricity lazer. -_-; He could have done so much more with it, you know?

The Time Machine, by Ray Bradbury. It's old. A 100 years old, in fact. Therefore, it has old words. Old phrases. Things I do not understand. SO OLD AND CONFUSING D:

A book called " Gothic a novel of short stories" Don't ask why I got it. But it is the most disturbing thing ever.
One story just has some killer about to kill a little kid. It's just....

Curse you.... jokes jokes Twilight's awesomeness!! Feel the almighty power of Stephenie Meyer's Saga Gold Soundz!!

Probably the worst would have to be Artemis Fowl (the first one). I read the first page which isn't even a full page and I chucked it in the fire. nah i didn't i stuck back on the library shelf with great happiness of getting rid of that horribly illiterate and piece of trash ever. No offence to anyone who likes the series but who wants to read about an adolescent boy flying around with fairies and their queen in the fairy kingdom??

I think I read some of that. Did it have a short story about some girl who like, beat some girl with a crowbar or something, then kept on referring to it? And eggs... I was gonna put that on here too. Not because I hate stories like that, it's just that I read the first pages of each one and they were all so BLEH!!! Ugh, I hated those too, but the one with the girl and the grandma who had some lady in her attic was just the worst written out of all of them. Eeew, I just hated that almost as much as the book I talked about earlier. Thankfully, I finally found a book I like in the library today.

But Ray Bradbury isn't 100 years old. D: Ehh, but whatever. I usually like his stuff, but meh, it's all personal opinion.

I'd have to say Icefire by Chris D' Lacey. The Fire Within was excellent, but Icefire made me want to read another book, but I kept reading it anyways.

I do. The first Artemis Fowl is my favorite book of all time. Really, it's not 'flying around with fairies and their queen in the fairy kingdom', it's 'watching a hidden race of extremely tecnologically advanced fairies place a siege on a mansion, SWAT style'.

Lemony Snicket is a snore for me. I remember when he was semi-popular, but thank goodness you never hear about his books anymore.
